Too many families live in poverty. While most children have a working parent, low income families live day-to-day with barely enough money for housing, utilities and food. These children need our assistance to take part in sports or cultural activities.
The positive benefits for children who have an opportunity to participate in recreational activities—be it Scouting, playing hockey or soccer, taking karate, dance or music lessons– are significant. These are the activities that enrich kids’ lives, create memories and are fundamental to social and emotional development.
You can make a difference in the lives of these children
In Huron County the members of the Kids Booster Club and the South Lake Huron Jumpstart Chapter raise funds to purchase recreation fees for children. The members meet twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall. For information on how you can join this group of dedicated volunteers please contact Joan at 519-524-7356 ext. 3270.
In Perth County a recreation fund has been established to assist parents in low-income families purchase recreation for their youngsters.
Donations to these dedicated funds are used exclusively in the County where they were raised.
