October is Child Abuse and Prevention Month in the province of Ontario. This month is marked by The Purple Ribbon Campaign. The Purple Ribbon Campaign was established in 1992 and is a province-wide public awareness program for the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Each of us has a responsibility for the well-being of children. Wearing a purple ribbon challenges everyone to become more aware of the devastating effects of abuse and neglect, and reminds us that we have a role to play in abuse prevention.
