We’re excited to announce a new partnership between the Huron Perth Children’s Aid Society and Anchor Rehabilitation’s Behavior Consultation team! This collaboration will help address the gaps in service planning as well as program interventions for complex special needs and high acuity youth in our communities.

We call it “The PATHways Program”

P- Person Driven

A- Appropriate services

T- Trauma Informed

H- Holistic Approach

As many of us know, children with complex special needs often require a range of services and supports. However, the complexity of their needs can make it challenging for service providers to develop effective and comprehensive service plans and/or programming aimed at skill acquisition or behaviour management interventions.  In some cases, the services that are needed may not be available.

That’s where the Behavior Consultation Program comes in. The program’s clinical lead (Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will work with HPCAS staff and leadership to develop individualized service plans, skill acquisition programming as well as behavioural interventions for youth with complex special needs. By leveraging the expertise of a BCBA, the program will provide a range of data driven and evidence-based interventions and supports that are tailored to the unique needs of each child as well as the caregivers that serve them.

One of the key benefits of this partnership is how it will empower HPCAS staff and leadership to better support youth with moderate to complex special needs, while also providing early intervention for both the youth and the caregivers that serve them.   By working closely with the BCBA, HPCAS staff will gain new knowledge and skills that they can apply to their work with other youth. This will help to build capacity within the organization as well as with the community partners that support the organization.   This partnership will ensure that high-quality, data driven and cost-effective services are available to the children and caregivers who need them most.

We’re thrilled to be partnering with Anchor Rehabilitation’s Behavior Consultation Team’s PATHways for Youth program to provide more comprehensive and effective care to the children and caregivers we serve. More importantly we look forward to seeing the positive impact this collaboration will have on the outcomes of the children, youth and families we serve.
