Meet Julia, our Family First team member and this month's staff spotlight feature! ✨
Julia has been on the HPCAS team for almost 18 years — that's incredible dedication to supporting families in our community! What drives her passion? The opportunity to work alongside families… in a collaborative way, building relationships while recognizing their existing strengths.
"I love helping connect families with resources and supports to help achieve their goals," Julia says. "It's rewarding to see families succeed when they have the right connections and encouragement."
Julia values the team approach at HPCAS, appreciating how colleagues and community partners all share the same commitment to supporting families and creating positive outcomes for children.
When she's not working with families, you'll find Julia spending time with her own family and friends, traveling to new places, or enjoying sports – both playing and cheering from the sidelines!
Julia, we're so grateful for you and your 18 years of dedication to building stronger families and brighter futures for children in our community! 💚

At HPCAS, we apply a family-first approach, meaning we believe families are the experts on their own lives and have the strength to create positive change when given the right support.
Instead of focusing on what's wrong, we work alongside families to identify what's already …working well and build from there. We engage natural supports like extended family, friends and community connections to create lasting safety plans that families develop themselves.
This approach keeps children connected to their families, culture and community whenever safely possible. When families feel heard, respected and empowered, everyone benefits.
Every family deserves support that meets them where they are and honours their unique strengths.

What a day! Huron County Pride this weekend was such a great event! 🏳️🌈
Our team loved meeting and connecting with community members, and seeing the incredible turnout of support.
Every child deserves to grow up knowing they're valued exactly as they are, and …seeing this kind of community support makes that feel more possible. The acceptance and love on display was really something special!
A big thank you to @huroncountypride for putting together such a welcoming celebration. We were honoured to be part of it!

Our Annual General Meeting on Tuesday evening brought together an amazing group of people who care deeply about children and families in our community 💚. Take a look at some of the moments that made the evening so special!
We celebrated the connections that make real change possible – …from our scholarship recipients taking their next steps forward, to our community partners who show up day after day, to the families who trust us to walk alongside them.
Guest speaker Rami Shami reminded us that when communities come together with intention and care, incredible things happen. That energy filled the room and reminded everyone why this work matters.
It was such a special evening and we are so grateful for all who came together to make this happen. Thank you to the Stratford Country Club @scc_1913 for keeping everyone well-fed, @TheSonderBakery for the amazing cupcakes that had people talking all night, and the @Stratford_Flower_Shoppe for making the space feel so welcoming.
When we connect with purpose, we build something lasting. We're already looking forward to continuing this work together in the year ahead.
Supporting well-being, together.

Online gaming is a fun way for children to connect with friends and explore new worlds, especially over the summer! But digital gaming spaces can present unique risks for young players who aren't familiar with online interactions.
There are lots of exciting games and opportunities to …connect with others. The key is helping children understand that online gaming environments require safety awareness and smart choices. Here are some important reminders.
When children are gaming online:
– Keep gaming devices in shared family spaces where you can monitor activity
– Usernames and profiles should never include real names, ages, or location details
– Friend requests from strangers should always be declined
– Voice and video chat features need parental permission and oversight
– Personal information like school names or addresses should never be shared
– Report inappropriate messages, bullying, or uncomfortable conversations immediately
Remember to explain to children and youth that if someone online asks to meet in person or requests personal information, tell a trusted adult right away. Legitimate gaming friends respect boundaries and understand safety comes first.
Teaching children to game responsibly helps them enjoy online experiences while protecting their safety and privacy.

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time to recognize First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples who have called this land home since time immemorial.
The design in this years graphic shows three symbols to represent each community – a feather, narwhal, and fiddle – flowing… together in connection. The rainbow colours celebrate how diverse and rich our Indigenous cultures are across Canada.
This month we encourage you to truly learn about Indigenous cultures and traditions directly from Indigenous voices, and to reflect on our shared history and how we can all support reconciliation. As a child welfare organization, we're committed to this work through building relationships with local Indigenous communities and working to reduce the number of Indigenous children in care.
