We are so proud and honoured to introduce you to "Hope" — a stunning new mural featured in our agency, created by the incredibly talented artist Henry Bukenya. 🎨
This piece is more than just beautiful artwork. It's a vibrant and inspiring symbol of life and hope for …everyone who walks through our doors.
Henry's journey from an orphaned child in Uganda who embraced his calling to art perfectly embodies the power of believing in potential, even when resources are limited. Growing up, he painted on bed sheets and curtain fabrics because that's what he had. And now, today, his art reflects and radiates his joy and resilience in the faces of his subjects.
Supported and guided by his art teacher, Henry grew into the individual and the artist he is today. His story reminds us that with heartfelt support and care, incredible things can happen. Shaped by the empowerment he received, his journey speaks to the importance of nurturing young talent. "Hope" continues this journey — providing guidance and support to those in need, through art.
"Hope" represents what we strive to provide: a place individuals can find support, joy, renewed purpose and direction. Thank you, Henry, for sharing your gift with our community and creating something that will inspire everyone who sees it.

This month we're introducing you to Sara (Ojibwe Anishinaabe, Curve Lake First Nation), the next shining star in our #TeamSpotlight! ✨
Sara is our Mino-Bimaadiziwin Cultural and Wellness Manager and we are proud to have had her on the Huron-Perth CAS team for 2.5 years.
In… her own words: "I love having the opportunity to bring Indigenous perspectives to the forefront ensuring that cultural values, traditions, and ways of knowing are integrated into the care and support that First Nation, Inuit and Metis children, youth and families receive from HPCAS. The work we do is about healing generations – restoring balance, dignity, and connection. I am proud to be a part of the movement toward truth, reconciliation, and real change in Child Welfare."
Sara's dedication ensures that Indigenous children and youth in our community receive care that truly honours their culture and keeps them connected to important pieces of their individual identity. We are so fortunate to have her expertise, her passion and her heart on our team – she makes us all better at serving every family with the respect and understanding they deserve.

Today, we honour National Indigenous Peoples Day and the cultures and contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
The visuals in this graphic, provided by Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada, represent each Indigenous group: the eagle for First Nations, the narwhal… for Inuit and the fiddle for Métis. Surrounded by colours representing the four elements of nature, we're reminded of the deep connections between Indigenous cultures and the natural world.
We recognize the territory we serve as the traditional land of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe and Attawandaron peoples, and acknowledge the harm that child welfare has caused Indigenous communities and families.
Our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation means concrete action — from Indigenous representation on our Board of Directors to mandatory staff training, ultimately working to reduce the number of Indigenous children in care by strengthening, not separating, families and kin.
True reconciliation requires active listening, respect and ongoing efforts to build stronger, healthier partnerships with local Indigenous communities. We are proud to be committed to this process.
