The Child Protection Information Network, or CPIN as we call it, is a provincial information management system that allows Children’s Aid Societies to securely store personal information and manage case files in one database.

CPIN was implemented as a part of the provincial government’s plan to ensure child safety and modernize the child protection system, ensuring that information to make the best decisions for each child and youth would be easily accessible to all Children’s Aid Societies.

Personal information in CPIN is only collected, used or disclosed in accordance with Part X of the Child, Youth and Family Services Act.  Using CPIN, Children’s Aid Societies are able to review what child protection services children have previously received, regardless of where in Ontario services were provided.

For more information, please review our Notice of Information Practices, which outlines how information is collected, used and shared.
