What is Kinship?
Kinship Care is a living arrangement in which a relative, community member or someone with a connection to the child or their family, takes primary responsibility to care for the child.
When children cannot be safely cared for by their parents, the most desirable alternative is for children to be cared for by their extended family or community when those families are able to provide safe and nurturing relationships intended to last a lifetime.
